Though Disney has given the Magic Kingdom's iconic Cinderella Castle several makeovers in years past (to varying degrees of success), it looks like Disney is going to be updating this magical landmark's look yet again, in a subtle way that should help bring new life to this half-century old icon. And the good news is, guests visiting Walt Disney world be able to see this new look for Cinderella Castle in the VERY near future!
Cinderella Castle is about to go gold
Instead of doing a massive reimagining for Cinderella Castle, this latest update will be very subtle, with the icon getting gold trim enhancements on windows and turrets as well as over its classic archway. In addition, the blue turret tops will be getting a fresh coat of paint and the upper 2/3 of the castle will be getting a bit of a pinkish tint as well, as you can see in the concept art above, released earlier this week by Disney.
Work has actually already started and will ramp up soon
Though Disney only just announced this project this week, preparations for this project began weeks ago, and barriers are already up along many of waterways surrounding Cinderella Castle to facilitate draining for parts of the moat while work is ongoing in the area. Though we don't know for sure, some scaffolding may go up while painting is ongoing, but Disney has at least assured guests visiting the Magic Kingdom in the coming weeks of one thing...
