Nighttime spectaculars and entertainment will NOT be affected by work on Cinderella Castle
Though you might assume that entertainment options might be limited while work is ongoing at Cinderella Castle, Disney has confirmed that both Happily Ever After and Mickey and Minnie's Royal Friendship Faire will go on as scheduled while work is being done on Cinderella Castle. And though we don't know for sure, if scaffolding is used while Cinderella Castle is getting a new look, we'd imagine Disney will simply project Happily Ever After onto screens, the same way they did at Disneyland when Sleeping Beauty Castle was being refurbished a few years ago.
The castle's new look will debut in just a few months
Though we're still a year out from the 50th anniversary of the Magic Kingdom in 2021, it looks like this celebratory castle overlay will be making its debut almost a year early (just in time for the 70th anniversary of the animated feature Cinderella), as work is scheduled to be completed this summer. This makes a lot of sense, as timelines would probably be a little tight if Disney waited until next year, as the Cinderella Dreamlights go up every fall in preparation for the holiday season and come down early in the year, which would cause Disney to miss debuting the new look in time for the start of 2021.
No specific official dates have been announced for the debut of this golden Cinderella Castle, but as work progresses we'll keep you updated!
