5. Fried Endorian Tip-Yip (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, DHS and Disneyland)

Don’t let the name scare you off—this unusual sounding dish is essentially Star Wars fried chicken and veggies.

For those unfamiliar, part of the charm of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is its immersive dining. Everything in the park is designed to feel like you can’t quite pin down the cuisine or ingredients—like it comes straight from the Star Wars universe. We’ve found all sorts of things that we love at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but one recipe that is particularly popular is the Fried Endorian Tip-Yip.

This recipe actually comes straight out of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook. If you’re a big Batuu fan, you can just get the book, but for a quicker look at the recipe, check out this version from AllEars.net. It is definitely a recipe on the more challenging side—particularly since it includes a second part to make the chimichurri-like gravy—but hey, we’ve got time!

6. Flame Tree Barbecue Sauce and Rub (Disney’s Animal Kingdom)

Flame Tree Barbecue is easily one of the most popular counter service restaurants in Disney’s Animal Kingdom-- for good reason. Flame Tree manages to hit that perfect sweet spot between providing quick meals that appeal to families with finicky eaters while still producing mouth-watering meat dishes with bold flavors.

One of Flame Tree’s secret weapons is it’s delicious BBQ sauce. Fortunately for us, Disney released a version of the recipe to its D23 fan club. Making BBQ sauce might sound intimidating, but it’s actually very straightforward—just combine the ingredients, simmer for 25 minutes, and store. AllEars.net took things a step further by producing a recipe for Flame Tree’s BBQ rub as well. Either of these two flavor enhancers can easily bring some Disney magic to any meats you’ll be cooking at home.

7. Potato and leek soup (The Rose and Crown Pub, Epcot)

The Rose and Crown Pub is another one of those places where you could just go crazy with recipes—there is so much to love on the menu there from Scotch eggs to Shepherd’s Pie. We decided to highlight a simple but oh-so-satisfying recipe with ingredients you should be able to find at a grocery store: potato and leek soup.

Ironically, this is actually a very popular Disney item—it also shows up at Be Our Guest, the Biergarten, the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, and elsewhere. In many ways, it’s the ultimate comfort soup. Disney Food Blog collected two different versions of the recipe that have been released over the years. The Disney Driven Life has a similar one specifically from the Ireland booth at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Make sure you don’t overcook it—the soup can turn brown if you’re not careful.

8. Bobotie (Boma, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Tusker House, Disney’s Animal Kingdom)

Time to get adventurous!

In searching for the top savory dishes at Disney parks, one unusual item kept making it onto people’s favorites—Bobotie, a South African mincemeat and egg dish from Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Tusker House in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Similar in some ways to Shepherd’s Pie, it’s an entirely unique dish that mixes both savory and sweet flavors into a sort of casserole. The closest thing you might be able to compare it to is Moroccan bastilla from Restaurant Marrakesh, but even that is quite different.

There are a surprising number of recipes available for Disney’s take on bobotie. The Disney Chef provides both a detailed recipe and some entertaining insight into how the writer’s family moved from skepticism to falling in love with Bobotie. Mad About the Mouse also did a great step by step version. If you’re interested in trying something more traditional, you could try this take from Epicurious which has nothing to do with Disney’s version.
