Raya and the Last Dragon

Though Disney is celebrating last year's release of Soul on Disney+ at both EPCOT and Disney Springs, Disney's Animal Kingdom will be adding new experiences in the near future related to the upcoming Raya and the Last Dragon film (coming soon to both theaters and Disney+) at Disney's Animal Kingdom starting later this week, including the following:

  • At Discovery Island Stage, artists will be working on a 40-ton sand sculpture featuring characters like Raya, Tuk Tuk, Sisu the last dragon and the Ongi. Guests can watch this sculpture come together February 19 through 21 and the finished work will remain on display for a limited time through the end of March.
  • Beginning February 22 at The Animation Experience at Conservation Station, guests will be able to learn to draw new characters from Raya and the Last Dragon. As part of the experience, guests will be able to check out a behind-the-scenes look at the inspiration for the character of  Tuk Tuk shared by Kelly Marie Tran (voice of Raya) and Awkwafina (voice of Sisu).

Raya and the Last Dragon will be simultaneously released theatrically and on Disney+ with Premier Access (for an additional $29.99 fee in addition to the subscription charge) in the United States on March 5. 2021.  Raya and the Last Dragon will be available to all Disney+ subscribers on June 4th, 2021 for no additional cost.

It looks like these new additions will be a great way for Disney's Animal Kingdom visitors in the coming weeks to get an advance look at this upcoming film, and Disney is likely hoping to generate as much interest as possible since Mulan's Disney+ Premier Access debut reportedly did not generate as much revenue as Disney was initially hoping. Will you be checking out these new additions at Disney's Animal Kingdom in the coming weeks?
