UPDATE July 1 - We always like to give our readers the opportunity to have their say on a number of theme park issues and the subject of queue jumping can undoubtedly be a contentious one. We asked  you in our recent poll what your thoughts are and I must admit, some I found quite surprising. So to the question, Queue Jumping: Is It Ever Okay? Here are the results:

  • Never - 16%
  • If a child needs the toilet (child and one accompanying responsible person) - 41%
  • If a child needs the toilet OR if it is for one person - 21%
  • If a child needs the toilet OR if it is for a small number of people (no more than 3) - 11%
  • I don't mind people queue jumping if they are joining their group - 10%

As you can see, 16% of the people that voted think queue jumping shouldn't be allowed at all. 41% are understanding if a child is in the queue and then needs to leave with an adult to go to the toilet. I was quite surprised that 10% of people don't mind queue jumping at all. This is certainly a higher percentage than I was expecting. If you haven't had your say yet, there is still time to vote. June 14 - Queue jumping is a contentious issue which has led to many a fight in Disney parks over the years. Last week there was an incident at Disney California Adventure where a group of people tried to skip the line for the Incredicoaster at Pixar Pier.

The 7-8 guests were trying to skip a huge chunk of the queue to get to the place where the rest of their party were. The Cast Member challenged them and told them to go to the back of the line.

Queue jumping must be a frequent occurence at Disney parks so we thought we would get your views in this week's Big Debate when we ask the question, Is It Ever Okay To Queue Jump?

Well, I know what you are thinking, of course the answer is "NO, NO, NO!" but are there some cases when it is okay? For example, you get in the queue with a child and half way through the queue they need the toilet, now I can't imagine there are many parents out there that haven't been in that situation. Is it then okay for one person to leave the queue with the child/children and then return to the same place?

What happens if you are heading to an attraction and someone needs the toilet, half the party get in the queue and half go to the toilet hoping to join the rest of the party when they are done. Is that okay?

Or, half your party go on one attraction and then try to join the rest of their party at the next attraction when they have finished. Is that okay?

There can be mixed messages online with some guests saying Cast Members have told them that if the group that is trying to cut into the line is equal or less than the number they are joining then it is okay.

You would think there would be a clear policy for queue jumping at Walt Disney World and Disneyland which is clearly displayed to ensure guests understand what is and isn't okay but looking on the official website there is little to go by which is surprising.

Those guests with certain disabilities have the opportunity to register for the Disability Access Service (DAS) Program so they are able to bypass the standby line which is of course acceptable and the DAS service is available to assist those guests who need it.

  • Never
  • If a child needs the toilet (child and one accompanying responsible person)
  • If a child needs the toilet OR if it is for one person

If a child needs to use the restroom that makes total sense, if it’s one member of your party..I still don’t like it but we’ve all been there when an emergency happens it happens. but generally speaking as an adult and quite frankly you should make your kids try to use the restroom before you get into an hour or 2 hr long que. It’s common sense. Like duh, “hey I’ve been chugging this water or soda and the wait time is 90 minutes, hey group let’s all hit up this restroom on the way” not rocket science

Too many times I've been in queues where one to three people are waiting, and then they're suddenly joined by 8 or 9 people. Sometimes I just don't let them through, and tell them the rest of the group can wait for them.
