Poll 5 - Alien Encounter Vs Stitch's Great Escape - Which do you think was the best?

So here it is, poll 5 is simply a head to head between Alien Encounter and Stitch's Great Escape. Which do you think was best? While some theme park goers thought Alien Encounter was amazing, some came off crying. While some people think Stitch's Great Escape was a great replacement, some could not have been more disgusted. The two couldn't be more different in theming, the scary Alien compared to the cute Stitch so age and your situation is likely to have a major impact on your opinion. Those with children are likely to go with Stitch but not necessarily if you have slightly older children where Stitch has long since been cool.

I am sorry to say I haven't ridden either which I am disappointed about as I love giving every ride a go. That is a slight draw back of living in the UK. Our last visit was in 2013 when our oldest son was just 9 months. We were adamant that we were going to go to Walt Disney World as a family. We were rebels and went between one of Nick's chemotherapy treatments. So, which one is your favourite? Here is a bit of information about both to get your thoughts whirring.

Alien Encounter, Disney

Alien Encounter -  Opened at Walt Disney World in 1995 and is summed up here by our excellent writer Brian, "Re-using the circular theaters of Magic Kingdom’s Mission to Mars, the attraction placed guests in shoulder restraints staring down a massive teleportation tube.  Of course, something goes wrong and a bloodthirsty carnivorous alien (a cross between a grasshopper, spider, and dragon) was teleported into the tube. With a flash of strobe lighting, the creature appeared to break out of the tube. From then on, the experience was in total darkness as 3D sound and tactile effects saw the audience splattered with “blood” and terrorized by the menacing alien as it drooled down their necks. Remembered as one of the most unique rides ever to grace a Disney park, Alien Encounter was regarded highly enough to warrant its own look back in our Lost Legends: Alien Encounter feature."

Stitch's Great Escape - Opened in 2004, replacing the Extra TERRORestrial Alien Encounter. This more family-friendly take on the tale sees furry alien Stitch (from Disney's Lilo & Stitch) escape confinement, causing mischief throughout the audience through 4-D sound and tactile effects.

I would also love to hear from anyone in the comments who rode Mission to Mars, which opened at Walt Disney World in 1975. That is definitely an attraction I really wish I could have ridden.

To vote in our poll CLICK HERE. I will discuss the results in Part 6 which is coming soon.

Our Park Guide Pages give you all the information you need about all the rides at The Magic Kingdom which makes it the perfect resource when planning your trip or when dreaming of what you will ride one day in the future.

Let me know if you have a great poll idea you would like to put to our readers. Like I said I don't know where our adventure will take us and what we will find out but come along for the ride by voting and sharing this post to keep theme park lovers all round the world smiling!

We have ridden all three. When we first rode Mission to Mars, we found it deadly dull and boring. You sat in a seat and watched a movie on the floor of leaving earth and arriving on Mars...and the seats shook sometimes. Big deal! We didn't ride it again...UNTIL we actually had sent a probe to Mars for real. So my husband decided to ry it again, in case the updated it. No such luck! Then we never DID ride it again. But the Alien Encounter ride was a different story. It was really a great ride. I think the only drawback was that the water they used to simulate blood spatters and alien drool was cold. It would have been WAY more effective if it has been warm, or even room temperature. Stitch was just a lame take-off on Alien Encounter. I am 71 and our kids are now 43, 40 and 37, so they rode all three also. They also like Alien Encounter best. I hope the replacement is as good as that was.

Thanks Gail for your comment, that is so interesting to know. Alien Encounter does definitely sound the superior of the line up. I am very excited to see what they replace Stitch's Great Escape with and here's hoping it lives up to Alien Encounter. Kind regards.
