It was announced back in January 2021 that Disney's Magical Express service would be ending permanently at the start of 2022. This left many guests wondering how they would get to Walt Disney World from Orlando International Airport.

Mears, the transportation company Disney used for this service immediately announced that they would continue to provide a shuttle service for Walt Disney World guests, albeit inevitably at a price.

We soon discovered that this service will be called Mears Connect and it has been announced this week that the reservation site is now live for bookings starting Jaunary 1, 2022. When arriving at the reservation site you have two options:

  • Standard - which is a shared service, large vehicles and a monitored wait time
  • Premium - Direct service with limited wait time

After selecting your preferred option you have to fill in your drop off location and return pick-up location, dates and flight times in order to come up with the final price for your shuttle to Walt Disney World.

It looks to be the case that the standard service will be very similar to the experience guests had with Disney's Magical Express, minus the Disney magic. The coaches stop at various Disney Resorts. The Premium service will essentially be a taxi service from the airport straight to your Resort.

The standard service is currently set to cost $32 for a round trip for adults and $27 for children. If you are looking for a single trip the cost is currently given as $16 per adult and $13.50 per child.

The Premium service is set to cost $200 for four guests with an additional surcharge of $55 per extra guest.

There are many ways for guests to get from Orlando International Airport to the Walt Disney World resort hotels including Uber and Lyft as well as renting a car and in the future the Brightline train, although this is unlikely to serve Walt Disney World until 2025. It is always a good idea to research which option is best to meet your needs at the cheapest possible price. Mears Connect will certainly be a great option for many and it is good news that the reservation site is now live and ready to take your booking.
