Carthay Circle

Last last month Disney confirmed that the Buena Vista Street area of Disney California Adventure will be opening select shopping and dining experiences, and now they have announced that this limited park reopening will kick off later this month on November 19. Interestingly Disney has announced that they will be assessing a $10 fee per car for parking at the Downtown Disney District in the Simba Lot beginning on this date as well. As this reopening will likely be quite popular mobile wait list system may go into place when Buena Vista Street and/or its queue are at capacity, similar to the process currently at use at some retail locations in the Downtown Disney District.

Though there won't be any attractions open and most of the park will still be closed off, guests who visit Disney California Adventure when it partially reopens later this month will be able to experience the following:

  • Shopping:  Guests will have plenty of choices for shopping in this area of the park, including holiday-themed gifts and apparel at stores like Elias & Co., Julius Katz & Sons, and Kingswell Camera Shop, which will all be open daily
  • Dining: Several dining locations will be open, including quick service locations like Trolley Treats,  Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe, and several vending carts. In addition, several sit-down dining options will be available, including Carthay Circle Lounge, where guests will find an expanded outdoor seating area featuring an all-new menu of cocktails and dining and Smokejumpers Grill which will feature a streamlined menu of burgers, fries, onion rings and craft beer, located just around the corner from Buena Vista Street.

In addition Disney has confirmed that there will be special holiday "happenings" going on at the theme park when it reopens, but we don't know exactly what those are quite yet (we'd guess special decorations and perhaps some distanced character appearances, but this is purely speculation right now).

While it isn't fully reopening, this partial reopening of Disney California Adventure should help get some Disneyland Resort Cast Members back to the resort, and help Disney fans in the area get their Disney fix in a safe and healthy way.
