With the D23 Expo in full swing, we eagerly await news of Disney's plans for 2024 and beyond. Well, it was announced yesterday that the iconic Test Track at EPCOT which officially opened in March 1999 will be reimagined.
Test Track has looked somewhat tired and needing attention for a few years now and saw significant downtime back in February 2022. We now know that Disney is planning a reimagining and they will look to the original World of Motion for inspiration.
This reimaging is being dubbed Test Track 3.0 as it will be the third version since the original officially opened in March 1999. The first version had a factory theme leading onto the second version which opened in late 2012 and took on a futuristic design with the ability to custom design your vehicle in the pre-ride experience.
As of yet we don't have any confirmed details other than it will be reimagined. We still await news of exactly how Test Track will be changed and when this change will take place. With the World of Motion attraction being used as inspiration we definitely expect a change in theme and revamp of the ride vehicles.
The World of Motion attraction was housed in the building that is now occupied by Test Track, it was one of EPCOT's original opening day attractions opening in 1982. The World of Motion was sponsored by General Motors and took guests on a time travel journey through the history of transportation. This included the lows and highs in designing new vehicles, the age of flight, and the development of the horseless carriage, as well as the the bicycle, Sunday drive with the family and the classic summer road trip. It closed at the beginning of 1996.
Disney is working alongside Chevrolet to reimagine this iconic attraction at EPCOT and we are looking forward to bringing you further details as soon as they are announced.
