Island Waterpark, Showboat

It is always exciting to discover a new entertainment offering is opening for guests to enjoy. The grand opening of Showboat's Island Waterpark was supposed to take place on Friday June 30 but according to News 12 this did not happen due to permit issues. The grand opening is now planned for Friday July 7.

When the Island Waterpark does open, tickets for general admission are on sale and will cost you $101.24 (including tax) or $78.71 (including tax) for a twilight session which gives you admission 4PM-8PM. Children aged 3 and under are free. There is currently a promotion which gives you one free ticket when you purchase 3 tickets at the same price using the code, BUY3GET1. Tickets can be purchased through the website.

Although initially the $100+ admission price seems expensive it does includes access for the whole day (10:00AM to 8:00PM) to 11 Waterslides, Island Drift Lazy River, Blue Cascade Waterfall, Adventure Island, Kids Cove, Wild Wave FlowRider, The Island Waterpark Boardwalk, 4 Restaurants and 3 Bars.

This new waterpark which spans 120,000 square feet, is owned by Bart Blatstein and aims to provide a "captivating experience" to guests of all ages year round. Atlantic City is known for its gambling but this $100 million project should firmly put it on the map as a destination for families as well.

This venture joins Blatstein's sports bar and 100,000-square-foot “Lucky Snake” arcade which includes an indoor go-kart track.

The indoor water park features over a dozen slides, 6,500-square-foot lazy river, a 1,000-square-foot surf simulator, a huge waterfall and a whole host of beverage and shopping offerings. It's state of the art retractable glass roof will provide guests with comfort all year round and aims to minimize energy consumption.

Wildwood Video Archive got a chance to get an in-depth preview of the new indoor water park which is embedded below.

This new water park had its grand opening Friday June 30 and is set to be a fantastic addition to Atlantic City. For more information and to book tickets, visit the official website.
