UPDATE January 31 - The Nova Corps Starblaster ship is now fully assembled outside the entrance to the “Wonders of Xandar Pavilion”. It has already had some critical reviews particularly in relation to the look of the metal support. More importantly though we are still waiting for an exact date to be announced for when the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will finally open. We will keep you posted.
It was announced back in November 2021 that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will officially open at EPCOT in Summer 2022 so Marvel fans are quite right to be getting excited.
This week there has been sightings of the Nova Corps Starblaster ship starting to be assembled outside the entrance to the “Wonders of Xandar Pavilion” which will house the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction which will certainly excite fans even more.
Disney Imagineer, Zach Riddley posted on his Instagram page earlier this week this news along with a number of photos of current progress and concept art of what the finished product will look like when the 51-foot-tall ship is fully assembled.
The Nova Corps Starblaster ship will be the signature icon of the Wonders of Xandar pavilion and is certainly expected to be very impressive.
When Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens it will be one of the longest indoor coasters in the world. Disney has developed a new ride system for this attraction that will feature elevated roller coaster trains that conceal track underneath. The trains will also be able to move independently, spinning around 360 degrees to face screens or set pieces, similar to the roller coaster trains used by Universal's Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts attraction. The backward launch will be a first for a Disney coaster.
