4 Things We Expect From Universal Orlando Resort's Rumored Third Park

3. As many as 13 attractions could be available on opening day

Another small tidbit we learned from recent document filings is that there are currently plans for 13 different attractions to be built at the water park between now and opening day. The height range for these attractions is between 20 and 200 feet, suggesting that kiddie ride structures as well as the rumored Volcano icon are included in this preliminary attraction count.

4. A 2017 opening date seems likely

According to the stormwater permit, construction work on this new park is scheduled to be completed by November 2016. Though winters in Florida are typically mild, opening a water park in December doesn’t seem like the greatest idea, which means a spring 2017 opening date is likely.

Though this would put Universal Orlando Resort’s water park head-to-head against Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s new Pandora: The World of Avatar expansion, we’ll bet this is a risk Universal is ready to take, as it's not the first time these two giants have gone head to head before (remember in 2014 when both parks opened up a mine train-style roller coaster?)

Though nothing about this project has been announced or confirmed, these rumors have persisted for nearly a year now, and more and more evidence has mounted that this proposed project will indeed be moving forward. 2015 marks Universal Studios Florida’s 25th anniversary, which would certainly be an auspicious occasion to formally announce this project…
