CLOSED DECEMBER 2016 to make way for new Universal hotels. Universal opened a new park - Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando to replace it.Wet 'n Wild Orlando was located on International Drive, in the heart of Florida's theme park hotspot. While the park was owned by Universal Orlando Resort parent NBCUniversal, it featured little theming and no attempt was made to tie it in with its sister parks. What it lacked in visual appeal when compared to Disney and SeaWorld's water parks, it attempted to make up for in sheer volume - there were a large number of multi-person and solo slides on offer, as well as the usual lazy river and wave pool.

History: SeaWorld co-founder George Millay opened Wet 'n Wild in March 1977, making it the oldest water park in Orlando. It was acquired by Universal in 1998 along with the rest of the chain, and was the only park retained when the company sold the rest of the chain six months later. The park has added a number of new slides over the years, although investment slowed down during the early part of the 21st century. The debut of Blastaway Beach, a new children's water play area, in 2012, could signal a new focus on the family market and a renewed drive from NBCUniversal to boost attendance at the park, which was flat from 2010 to 2011. In June 2015, Universal announced that the park would close at the end of 2016, with a new water park under construction at Universal Orlando to replace it.
