How to train your dragon roller coaster

Universal has officially taken the wraps off of its new How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk land, opening next year alongside the rest of Epic Universe.

This land will be the largest in the park and will feature over half a dozen new attractions including three rides, a live show, an interactive play area, character meet-and-greet spaces, themed restaurants and more! Here's the full breakdown:

New rides will include high-flying roller coaster, boat attraction and more

This expansive new land will be anchored by three new rides, the first of which is Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, a family friendly roller coaster that allows guests to ride on one of Hiccup's latest "winged flying machines." Guests on this family roller coaster will catch breathtaking views as they zoom, fly and dip around the whole land, reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour as they ride past all of the land's major landmarks, including a trilling trip across the land's lagoon.

Next up is Fyre Drill, an interactive boat ride where guests can strap in and blast water cannons at flame-like targets to practice putting out fires – a crucial skill to master when living with dragons.

The last ride is Dragon Racer’s Rally, which is a flat ride where guest board "dragon training" seats attached to a mechanical arm that brings them up to 67 feet in the air before doing barrel rolls and other thrilling maneuvers. For those who want to feel the sensation of flight without as much spinning, there will be a "mild" version of the ride that will be less intense.

Acclaimed How to Train Your Dragon show from Universal Beijing is being adapted for Epic Universe

Ever since the How to Train Your Dragon land was first rumored, many have hoped that the acclaimed Untrainable show from Universal Beijing would be coming to Epic Universe. And now we have confirmation that the show, now re-titled to Untrainable Dragon, will be coming to the park, complete with high flying animatronics that bring the action into the audience. You can check out a filmed version of the Beijing show above.

Character and play areas will help round out the land

In addition to the rides and the show, there will be some kid-focused attractions in the new How to Train your Dragon area as well. First up is the Viking Training Camp, which provides an interactive play area similar to Camp Jurassic that includes bridges, climbing structures, and a Viking agility course where young guests can hone their skills.

In addition, there will be a dedicated character meet and greet areas in this new land, where guests can meet Hiccup and Toothless, as well as other vikings and dragons throughout the land.

There are going to be a variety of places to dine

Of course any new immersive theme park land wouldn't be a complete without some memorable spots to eat, and fortunately the How to Train Your Dragon land really delivers on the foodie front! The centerpiece of this new land's dining options will be Mead Hall, where guests can "feast like a Viking" and enjoy a savory menu featuring a variety of meats, fish, sandwiches and more along with a collection of meads and ciders in a casual, sit down restaurant, decked out to look like a Viking hall.

Spit Fyre Grill is next in the lineup, and will be the land's quick-service dining location with delicious, hearty meals flame-seared by a dragon fry cook. Similarly, guests can grab a quick bite at Hooligan’s Grog & Gruel, a racing-themed food stand located near the kids' play area.

There is plenty to look forward to in How to Train Your Dragon and between the rides, show, character meet and greets, eateries and play area, there should be something for everyone in this land! What are you most excited for? Let us know by leaving us a comment below or on our Facebook page.
