It is important for guests visiting Universal Orlando Resort to know which rides and attractions are closed for refurbishment or for another reason to avoid disappointment. It can be difficult to keep up to date with the changing schedules so we are collating the current list of refurbishments planned for Universal Orlando Resort during May and June.
On May 29, the Pteranodon Flyers attraction which is located in the Jurassic Park area of Universal's Islands of Adventure reopened after a brief refurbishment. These fun swings are perfect for younger kids and give a great view of the park.
If I Ran A Zoo which is a play area located in Seuss Landing at Universal Island's of Adventure also reopened after its refurbishment which took place May 2 - 28, 2022. The area is reported to be looking clean and bright with the slides, tunnels and wet play area ready for younger kids to be enjoyed once again.
Caro-Seuss-el closed at Universal's Islands of Adventure over a year ago and had been undergoing a major refurbishment on it's roof. Caro-Seuss-el reopened at the end of May which came as a surprise to many Universal fans as there had been rumors online that we could see a late summer reopening for this attraction.
We are including dates where possible but these are subject to change. We will keep you informed of any changes on our news and Facebook page.
1. Revenge of the Mummy (Universal Studios)
Dates: Now - Late Summer 2022
The popular Revenge of the Mummy attraction closed at Universal Studios on January 7, for a lengthy refurbishment. Details of what is being done hasn't been released but we are guessing some major behind-the-scenes work involving the track, show scenes, or both will be undertaken during such an extensive refurbishment.
The ride is scheduled to reopen at the end of the Summer but there has been a rumor floated over the last few weeks that, "the word around the resort is that they are making early preparations to staff Revenge of the Mummy and begin operations re-training on it sometime in mid to late June. This has led to some expectation that they may be trying to reopen the popular dark coaster in time for the busy July 4th holiday period if possible."
This rumor which was floated a few weeks ago now would certainly be welcome news for guests visiting Universal Studios Florida in July but this has still not be confirmed or denied by Universal as of yet. We will keep you posted on this when we know more.
2. Fievel's Playland (Universal Studios Florida)
Dates: Now - TBA
UPDATE June 16 - From reports online, a number of parts of Fievel's Playland which is located in Woody Woodpecker's KidZone at Universal Studios Florida have reopened including the water slide and guests can now walk through the playground. A small slide and nets are still currently blocked off. We are assuming the remaining parts will be opened again soon.
Fievel's Playland is a playground located in the Woody Woodpecker KidZone at Universal Studios Florida. It it described as a "whimsical playground with oversized props". Kids can cross rope bridges, explore a huge cowboy boot, splash in the giant cowboy hat as well as climbing a 30-foot spider web. It is currently closed and there hasn't been a date given as of yet for when it will reopen. We are hoping it will be a short closure as this is a much needed space for kids to blow off some steam at Universal Studios Florida.
3. Hogwarts Express (Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure)
Dates: June 9 - 18, 2022
The Hogwarts Express is an extremely popular attraction at Universal Orlando Resort and we found out at the end of April that it will be closed for refurbishment from June 9 and will reopen on June 19. It looks like this refurbishment is for general maintenance although it may seem to many that it is a strange time to choose right at the start of the busy summer months in the parks.
The Hogwarts Express usually transports guests between Universal Studios Florida (King's Cross Station) and Universal's Islands of Adventure (Hogsmeade Station). Both stations will be closed during this period meaning guests will have to walk between the parks instead.
