Pandora - World of Avatar concept art

Disney has released a video of the announcement of Pandora - The World of Avatar for Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom, featuring more concept art for the new land.

Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde and Avatar director James Cameron filmed the video for Saturday's presentation at the D23 expo in Japan. Pandora - The World of Avatar will feature two major new attractions - a Soarin' style flight over Pandora and a boat ride through the darkened forests of the planet.

Several impressive-looking pieces of concept art have already been released for the land, but the video below contains more. In particular, around the 3:00 mark footage of the flying attraction can be seen:

Pandora will be a massive land - more or less on the same scale as Disney California Adventure's new Cars Land - and will be anchored by a very impressive looking "floating mountain" centerpiece that may rival the park's existing Tree of Life icon in terms of scale. The entire land will replicate the dense, alien forests of the planet Pandora from the film. Paths will be scattered along twisting gigantic roots, exotic flora, and perhaps an appearance or two from local creatures as guests make their way to the mountain in the distance.

There is no evidence that it will be Soarin like. In fact recent patents from Disney show a far more advanced version of something like Forbidden Journey.
