LEGOLAND Malaysia will follow in the footsteps of several of its sister parks and open its own water park on October 21, 2013.
The debut of the water park is part of operator Merlin Entertainments Group's strategy to turn LEGOLAND Malaysia into a "resort theme park". The company, the second-largest operator of visitors attractions in world behind Disney, also plans to build a 249-room hotel on the site by early 2014.
The water park, which is reportedly 70 percent complete, will charge a separate entry fee. It will boast similar attractions to the water parks at LEGOLAND California and LEGOLAND Florida, including Build-a-Raft River, a unique lazy river in which guests can build their own raft from buoyant LEGO bricks.
LEGOLAND Malaysia opened in September 2012, and is based on the same successful template as other LEGOLAND parks around the world. The first LEGOLAND park in Asia is aimed at families with children aged 2-12, and has attracted more than a million visitors since it opened.
