Walt Disney World has announced another interactive game for the Magic Kingdom, with A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas set to debut in spring 2013.
The game will be hosted in Adventureland, and will challenge guests to complete five distinct "pirate raids" around the area. Players will be equipped with a pirate map and a "magic talisman", and will aim to locate several different Treasures of the Seven Seas. The plot will tie-in with the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and will feature characters including Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa.
As with many of Disney's most recent additions as part of its NextGen programme, A Pirate's Adventure is expected to make extensive use of RFID short-range radio technology. This will be used to trigger special effects hidden around Adventureland, including a variety of animatronic creatures.
Walt Disney World already offers several similar interactive experiences. This includes Phineas & Ferb: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure at Epcot, and Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, which debuted in September 2011. The resort recently announced another game for Disney's Animal Kingom, based on the Wilderness Explorers organisation seen in Pixar's Up.
