Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is gearing up for the opening day of its new roller coaster, Superman: Ultimate Flight, which will debut on June 30, 2012.

The coaster is opening a week later than expected, but a limited number of guests have already taken part in preview rides. The Premier Rides creation features a custom design that sees guests launched to a top speed of 62 miles per hour before racing through a 150-feet-tall inversion.

Footage of Superman: Ultimate Flight in action was captured on camera by Theme Park Review in the video embedded below:

The new ride has replaced the Pandemonium roller coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, which was formerly known as Tony Hawk's Big Spin. Constructions of its of blue, red and yellow circuit was completed early in June 2012, with testing of the ride having been ongoing since.

Looks to me like is has a dreadful throughput, one car, 12 riders, forty five second ride, a minute to load and restraint check. That adds up to about 410 riders per hour.
