Alton Towers will celebrate Easter 2012 by hosting a giant "chocolate" climbing wall, which will be spsonsored by Fox's Biscuits.
Mt. Rocky will be located in Adventure Land, opposite the Sonic Spinball roller coaster, from April 10-15, 2012. It is named after Rocky biscuit bars, one of Fox's Biscuits leading products, and will stand at 32-feet-tall. It will be officially opened by pop star Peter Andre on April 10 at 10am.
The temporary attraction will be similar to the Lava Lump climbing wall that was removed from the Forbidden Valley area of Alton Towers at the end of the 2011 season. It will be designed to resemble a giant Rocky bar, and will feature a four-tonne "chocolate waterfall" that will flow at a rate of 70,000 litres per hour.
Artists Bompas & Parr designed Mt. Rocky, with Alton Towers' marketing department claiming that the duo worked with food technologists and expert climbing instructors during its creation. An official Facebook page has been launched ahead of the climbing wall's debut.
Alton Towers launched two new permanent attractions for the 2012 season in late March. Theme Park Tourist has posted in-depth reviews of both Nemesis Sub-Terra and Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs - The 4-D Experience.
