The Disneyland Resort has confirmed that Disney California Adventure will be closed for the entire day on June 14, 2012, ahead of the debut of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street.
The following day, June 15, will see both areas opening to the public for the first time. Disney will use the closure to help prepare for the major influx of guests, and to host media previews of the new attractions. The park is gearing up to celebrate a major milestone in its history, with the completion of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street marking the end of a $1.1 billion series of upgrades.
The extensive renovations to Disney California Adventure have already seen a major overhaul of the Paradise Pier area and the debut of the World of Color nighttime spectacular. In 2011, dark ride The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure opened.
Cars Land is the biggest addition to the park to date, and will be anchored by the $200 million E-Ticket attraction Radiator Springs Racers. Buena Vista Street, meanwhile, will replace the Sunshine Plaza entrance area, and will recreate Los Angeles as Walt Disney would have found it on his arrival in the 1920s.
