The Universal Orlando Resort is set to reveal details of a range of new and updated attractions via an invitation-only webcast on January 25, 2012.

The announcement is expected to include details of a new night-time show that will take place on the lagoon at Universal Studios Florida, as well as further information about the planned Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem ride and updates to Islands of Adventure's Amazing Adventures of Spiderman.

However, the webcast will not cover the Universal Orlando's plans for the area that housed the shuttered Jaws attraction, which is expected to be converted into a new Harry Potter land.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that the new show will be named Universal's Cinematic Spectacular - 100 Years of Movie Magic. Featuring narration by Morgan Freeman, it will see scenes from famous Universal Studios films projected onto water screens in the lagoon. It will be accompanied by a new parade, known as Universal's Superstar Parade, that will star Universal and Nickelodeon characters.

Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem will feature many of the leading characters from the movie, including soft-hearted super-villain Gru, adopted daughters Margo, Edith and Agnes, and cute characters the minions. It will include scenes set in Gru's lair and secret lab, with the plot set to see the entire family accidentally transformed into minions.

The updated Amazing Adventures of Spiderman is expected to make its debut in March. It will feature the same Infitec 3-D projection system that is being used for the Despicable Me ride, as well enhancements to the ride's physical sets. Universal has promised that new details will be added to the ride, although it has not yet revealed what these will be.
