Alton Towers X Sector

Alton Towers has confirmed that it will close the Enterprise and Submission rides in the X Sector area of the park for the entirety of the 2012 season.

Fan site Towers Times first reported rumours that the two rides, both located close to the Oblivion roller coaster, are to be left standing but not operating throughout the year. Alton Towers has now itself confirmed the rumours, reporting that the rides will be closed to enable construction work to take place on the planned new SW7 roller coaster for 2013.

While SW7's footprint will not cover the area that incorporates Submission and Enterprise, construction work will be simplified by closing the two attractions. Two new rides, Nemesis Sub-Terra and Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs – The 4-D Experience will make up the shortfall in the park's line-up during 2012.

In 2013, Alton Towers will debut a new, multi-inversion roller coaster in X Sector. In its press statement announcing the closures of Enterprise and Submission, the park restated that the coaster will feature a "world-first" element.

Those 2 rides are my favourite flat rides in the park , i hope they come up and running again after SW7 is built and confirmed. Really , there's nothing wrong with enterprise , and submission really just needs new seats so it will be more popular again.
