Rumour: Alton Towers to close Enterprise and Submission for 2012 season

Alton Towers X Sector

Rumours have emerged that Alton Towers will close the Enterprise and Submission rides in the X Sector area of the park for the entirety of the 2012 season.

Fan site Towers Times reports that the two rides, both located close to the Oblivion roller coaster, are set to be left standing but not operating throughout the year. The reasons behind the move to close the attractions are unknown, and Alton Towers is yet to confirm the rumours.

Both rides have been removed from the ride listings on Alton Towers' Fastrack ticket web page, although there remains a slim possibility that this is due to the addition of new ride Nemesis Sub-Terra to the list.

In 2013, Alton Towers will add a new, multi-inversion roller coaster to the X Sector land. It is likely that the surrounding area will receive a refresh, although the park has already stated the new coaster will be designed to fit the existing futuristic theme.
