SeaWorld Orlando is reportedly set to make a major announcement on November 8, 2011, with details of the park's planned expansion likely to be released.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that SeaWorld Orlando says it will "make waves" with the announcement, although no further details are known at present. The park is expected to make a number of significant additions during 2012 and 2013, as it looks to cope with increased competition in Florida following the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando.
An Antarctica-themed dark ride is believed to be on the cards, along with a series of upgrades to the neighboring Discovery Cove premium water park. SeaWorld Orlando is also expected to redevelop its existing penguin exhibit.
Details of at least one attraction are already widely known, thanks to reports on Screamscape. The Manatee Rescue attraction will receive an update to its existing theater, enabling it to host a 4D movie about sea turtles. The film is expected to an edited-down version of Turtle: The Incredible Journey, a documentary which was produced for theaters by SeaWorld Pictures in 2011.
