Universal Orlando denies plans to install Transformers: The Ride

Universal Orlando has stated that it has no announcements to make about the installation of a version of Transformers: The Ride at either of its theme parks.

Rumors that a Transformers attraction could be on its way to either Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure were sparked earlier this week by an interview with Steven Spielberg. The movie director, who acts as a consultant for Universal's parks, stated "Transformers is going to pretty amazing. We’ve been working on that for about three years now. It should be ready soon. I don’t have an announcement, yet, but it should be coming there soon."

However, it appears that Spielberg was simply referring to the versions of Transformers: The Ride that are due to open at Universal Studios Singapore and Universal Studios Hollywood within the next 12 months. Both will be based on the same ride system that is used in the existing Amazing Adventures of Spiderman attraction at Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure.

As with the films (and the earlier toys and cartoons), Transformers: The Ride will feature robots that "transform" into cars, planes, tanks and other vehicles. Riders will be placed into the middle of a pitched battle between the human-friendly Autobots and the evil Decepticons.

The first version of the ride to open will be at Universal Studios Singapore, and will debut in December 2011. A near-identical attraction will open at Universal Studios Hollywood in spring 2012.
