Busch Gardens Tampa has announced that a new ice show, dubbed Iceploration, will make open in the park's Moroccan Palace Theater on February 2, 2012.
The park's press release promises that the 30-minute show will feature a cast of ice skaters, aerial performers, puppets and live animals. It will replace Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy in the theater, with the previous show having closed on September 5, 2011.
Iceploration's plot will center around Austin, a teenager with a life that revolves around technology. The boy's grandfather will take him on a journey of discovery around the globe, in which they will visit the African Serengeti, the Great Barrier Reef, the Arctic and the Amazon Rainforest. A trailer for the show can be seen below:
During the African Serengeti scenes, enormous puppets will bring to life animals that have gathered at a water hole. When the action moves to the Great Barrier Reef, helium-filled puppets will be used to depict undersea life, while the Arctic scenes will see skaters recreating the Aurora Borealis phenomenon. Finally, a new signature song, "Meet the World", will accompany Austin's trip to the Amazon rainforest.
In advance of the opening of Iceploration, the Christmas on Ice show will be performed in the Moroccan Palace Theater between November 21 and January 1.
