The family-friendly Road Runner Express rollercoaster has opened at Six Flags Magic Mountain, taking the park a step closer to reclaiming the "coaster capital of the world" crown.
Road Runner Express is a Vekoma Junior Coaster, which was originally due to open at the park in 2010. The ride has been relocated from the closed Six Flags New Orleans park, and reaches a top speed of 21mph during a 679-feet-long circuit.
The new addition is located in Six Flags Magic Mountain's Bugs Bunny World area, and is targeted squarely at younger riders. Official video footage of Bugs Bunny and other Looney Tunes characters greeting the ride's opening, along with extensive footage of the ride itself, is embedded below:
The opening of Road Runner Express takes the total number of rollercoasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain to seventeen, equalling the number of coasters at rival Cedar Point. Later this year, the park will open the first Intamin ZacSpin coaster in the US, Green Lantern, at which will point it will hold more rollercoasters than any other theme park in the world.
