Drayton Manor's new hotel is set to officially open on August 15, 2011, and has begun taking bookings online.

The new hotel, which is located just outside the theme park's gates, will feature 150 rooms. 11 of these will be themed around Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends, to tie in with Drayton Manor's hugely popular Thomas Land area. The remaining rooms will be a mixture of standard, executive and deluxe rooms, along with three high-end presidential rooms.

Outside of the rooms, the focus on Thomas & Friends continues. Families will be able to book character breakfasts, during which they will be able to mingle with some of the human characters from the popular TV series. The hotel will also feature a Thomas & Friends themed playroom, along with two restaurants and several hospitality suites.

Construction work on the hotel is nearing completion.

Rooms can be booked via the Drayton Manor Hotel's official website, with prices starting from £120 per room per night (as part of a "Stay and Play" package). The Thomas Themed rooms are available from £210 per night, based on bed and breakfast for two adults and two children.

In a press release, Drayton Manor's Managing Director Colin Bryan said: "Our hotel has been long-awaited and comes after many years of planning, so it is with great pleasure that we are now able to take reservations. We regularly receive messages from families travelling from places such as Scotland and Northern Ireland asking about nearby hotels. From this summer, there will be no need for these visitors to look elsewhere for accommodation. I have no doubt that the hotel will help transform Drayton Manor from a day out attraction into a first class leisure resort."
