Universal Orlando will stream live online video of the grand opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter on June 18, as well as a "celebrity preview" event on June 16.
The preview event will take place on Wednesday, June 16 between 9.30pm and 10pm EST and will featuring Harry Potter movie stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton. Composer John Williams will conduct an orchestra at the exclusive event, which is not open to the public. To view the live video, head over to Universal's grand opening website.
Two days later, the highly-anticipated grand opening will take place at Islands of Adventure. Universal's live coverage will run from 9am to 9.30am EST, and will again be broadcast via www.grandopeningwebevent.com.
Huge crowds are expected to descend upon the Wizarding World on its opening day, although many fans have already been able to experience the Potter-themed land after a series of "technical rehearsals" over the last few weeks. Universal Orlando's President Bill Davis has insisted to the Orlando Sentinel that it is ready to handle the crowds, despite concerns from some visitors that the Wizarding World's shops and restaurants may struggle to cope with large numbers of guests. Those attending will be able to queue up early, with Universal planning to open the resort's parking lot at 5.30am ahead of the 9am opening of Islands of Adventure.
Universal has invested over $200 million in the Wizarding World, which it hopes will revitalise its attempts to establish Universal Orlando as a multi-day destination.
