An on-ride video of Alton Towers' Thirteen rollercoaster has been featured on UK television, with the park confirming that the ride will be ready for its opening day on Saturday, March 20.

The video was featured on ITV's GMTV breakfast show, and finally reveals all of the closely-guarded secrets of the ride. Details and a link to the video are at the bottom of this story, beneath a spoiler warning. Readers who do not wish to spoil the surprise ahead of experiencing Thirteen for themselves should not read any further.

The park has confirmed that the £15 million coaster will meet its planned opening date, which coincides with the start of Alton Towers' 2010 season. Theme Park Tourist will be attending the opening day at Alton Towers on Saturday and will bring you exclusive pictures and video of Thirteen. Spoiler warning - do not read beyond this point if you do not wish to see more information on Thirteen's ride mechanism

As widely rumored, Thirteen features a fairly conventional rollercoaster ride through the new horror-themed "Dark Forest" area of Alton Towers, before entering the claimed "world's first" element. This takes place in a mock crypt, and sees a section of the track freefall vertically before the train exits into a backwards section.

The video confirms the validity of a 3D rendering of the ride mechanism that was released yesterday, and ends months of speculation as to the nature of Alton Towers' latest "Secret Weapon" coaster. The first public riders will find out on Saturday whether Thirteen lives up to Alton Towers' claims that it is the "scariest rollercoaster in the world".
