Universal has included the Wizarding World of Harry Potter on its official Gradbash website, suggesting that it plans to have the new land open by the time the event begins on April 23.

The website claims that graduating seniors who attend the events on April 23, 24 and 30 will be able to "step into" the new Potter land at Islands of Adventure. Universal has previously only revealed "Spring 2010" as its target opening date.

However, Universal has a shaky recent record of opening new attractions on time. Its Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit rollercoaster was due to open at Universal Studios Orlando in spring last year, but suffered a series of delays before finally opening in August. Therefore, TPT will continue to list Memorial Day (May 31, 2010) as the estimated opening date for the attraction on our New Attraction Watch - on the basis that Universal will likely pull out all the stops to get the Harry Potter land open prior to the key Memorial Day weekend.

Grad Bash is Universal's event exclusively for graduating seniors at U.S. high schools, and features late night opening and live music. Students can apply for their schools to be added to the admittance list through the Grad Bash website. Walt Disney World's Grad Nights 2010 event will also take place at the end of April.

Full details of the attractions, restaurants and shops that will form part of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter can be found in TPT's recent news story.

Originally, this park was due to open towards the end of 2009. To ensure I wasn't too late, I booked my family's holiday to Orlando for the first 2 weeks of April. We can only afford to holiday in the USA about every 4 years, and myself and my 2 daughters will be absolutely GUTTED if it isn't open when we come. (even partially open would be something). This whole charade is getting really upsetting and no-one in our house is looking forward to our holiday any more.

I hope Universal don't disappoint.

We had a very similar situation last year, when we were really hoping to ride Universal's new Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit coaster during our Florida holiday. It was due to open months before we arrived, but didn't. In the end we just managed to ride it on the first day of its "soft opening".

At the moment it's still not clear exactly when the Wizarding World will open, but construction work does look to be at a very advanced stage. Universal will be pulling out all the stops to get it open in time for the Memorial Day weekend at the end of May, as it needs a good summer this year. That means there's a real possibility of some kind of soft opening in April, but no guarantees - we'll do our best to keep you updated through the news section.

Of course, there are loads of brilliant things to do in Orlando besides the Wizarding World, so I hope you'll have a fantastic holiday whatever happens.

Hopefully this will open at the end of April. I am sure they will really want to get back on track after the serious delays with the Rockit.
I am really excited about visiting again soon to see it.
