The Dueling Dragons rollercoaster at Universal's Islands of Adventure was temporarily closed after an employee was injured by the ride.
Details are sketchy at this stage, but it is believed the employee was struck by one of the coaster's trains. The ride was closed following the incident on Wednesday morning, which occurred prior to the park opening, but reopened later in the day.
That the ride reopened so soon suggests that the employee was stood in the wrong area, rather than that there is any fault with the ride itself. However, any speculation on the incident's cause is purely that at this stage.
The Orlando Sentinel quotes Universal spokesman Tom Schroder as saying "Our ride is safe. What happened this morning had nothing to do with the safety of the ride experience."
No details have been given on the injuries suffered by the employee, with Schroder commenting "It's too soon to share more information. We're doing everything we can to support our team member and his family."
