A series of Star Wars-themed weekends kick off this weekend at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The events will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 22-June 14 (that's May 22-24, May 29-31, June 5-7 and June 12-14). Star Wars "characters" will be present at the park to meet fans, and the Jedi Training Academy (a regular show at the park in which kids can "train" to be a Jedi) will take place throughout the day.

Attending the event doesn't cost any extra over and above the usual Hollywood Studios entry fee. Other planned activities include Star Wars trivia contests, special parades, and autograph sessions with famous Star Wars actors and creators. There'll also be opportunities to spend money, of course, with "one-of-a-kind" Star Wars memorabilia on sale.

Disney's Hollywood Studios has had a long relationship with Star Wars, despite the films not being produced by Disney. As well as the Jedi Training Academy, the Star Tours simulator ride has been a fixture at the park since 1989. It is due to be replaced with a new version, Star Tours 2, in 2010.

Scheduled autograph sessions for the weekends include:

May 22-24: Ray Park ("Darth Maul") Warwick Davis ("Wicket the Ewok")

May 29-31: Peter Mayhew ("Chewbacca") Matthew Wood ("General Grievous")

June 5-7: Jeremy Bulloch ("Boba Fett") David Prowse ("Darth Vader")

June 12-14: Dave Filoni (the director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars) Temuera Morrison ("Jango Fett")

For more details, see Disney's event website.

This sounds like such a good idea to pull in the crowds!
I wish I was close enough to go to one!!!!
Thanks TPT!!!
