Opened in time for the Bicentennial celebrations in 1976, Screamin' Eagle is a sprawling wooden roller coaster. At the time, it was the tallest and fastest coaster of its type, with riders hitting a top speed of 62 miles per hour at the base of its 92-foot first drop.

The Screamin' Eagle is a wooden gem nestled in the wooded hills of Six Flags St. Louis. Sitting atop the park, it is the "crown" of Six Flags St. Louis. Openning in 1976, this coaster designed by legendary wooden coaster designer John C. Allen, was his final masterpiece and it shows when it broke all records. It was the tallest, fastest, longest rollercoaster in the world when it openned. The Screamin Eagle was not your typical out and back wooden coaster, being built along with the terrain of the wooded hills, and it's not until the 3rd drop do you experience its biggest drop. Throughout it's 3,872 feet of track, the Screamin' Eagle will leave you breathless and wishing that more wooden coaster were built like this one.
