Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been ground zero for a number of huge changes in the past few weeks and it looks like even more changes are in store for the park in the coming weeks.
From the announcement of yet another Frozen-themed event to the opening of a new retail location and even a controversial FastPass+ test, there’s plenty of things happening at this park.
1. Wandering Oaken's Frozen Snowground retail store opens
Though much attention has been on the opening of the Haunted Mansion retail location Momento Mori at the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has also opened up a new retail location. Wandering Oaken’s Frozen Snowground can currently be accessed from the Streets of America and as you might expect, it includes all manner of Frozen merchandise. Like the name implies, there is also a snow play area, similar to what inhabited Soundstage One during the Frozen Summer Fun event.
2. Frozen Premium Package keeps the “Frozen Fun” going
Continuing with the theme of a Frozen takeover at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a new winter event has been announced for the park. The Frozen Premium Package is a special desert party debuting this November at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and will include a special dessert party, guaranteed seating at the Frozen Sing-a-long show at the Premiere Theater as well as a special souvenir pin. 3. Hollywood Backlot Tour Out, Pixar Playland in?
Ever since the Hollywood Backlot Tour closed for good last month, rumors have been swirling about what might replace it. Though many (including this writer) were hoping that Disney might use this expansive place to put in another ride (something Disney’s Hollywood Studios sorely needs), rumors about a Pixar-themed play area have been quite persistent, and have been reported on by some generally reliable sources. While nothing has been confirmed by Disney, this development wouldn’t be surprising, and would (hopefully) have a faster construction time than a full-fledged ride attraction, and would be a good "placeholder" attraction while the big task of bringing Star Wars to Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2017/2018.
