Winston's Whistle-Stop Tour

The new Winston's Whistle-Stop Tour monorail ride opened on Friday, July 19, 2013 in Drayton Manor's popular Thomas Land area.

The Fat Controller was on hand to open the new addition, which takes guests on a circuit around Thomas Land, offering aerial views of the area's other attractions. The £750,000 ride is similar in styles to rides such as Sky Rider at LEGOLAND Windsor, and features open-topped vehicles during good weather.

The debut of Winston's Whistle-Stop Tour marks the fifth anniversary of Thomas Land, which remains the only theme park land dedicated to Thomas & Friends in Europe. The last new ride to be added to the area was the Blue Mountain Engines in 2011.

Colin Bryan, CEO and Group Managing Director of Drayton Manor, said: "It's an amazing honour for Drayton Manor to be home to Thomas Land and introducing a new character ride, Winston’s Whistle-Stop Tour, is the perfect way to mark its fifth anniversary at our park. Thomas & Friends has a magical quality that entertains the young and young at heart, and has done so for over six decades so it's fantastic that for the past five years we’ve been a part of that."

The new addition is themed around Winston, the inspection vehicle seen in the Thomas & Friends series. Each of its seven vehicles is capable of seating four people.
