Jurassic Park River Adventure reopens at Universal's Islands of Adventure

Jurassic Park River Adventure

The Jurassic Park River Adventure water ride has reopened at Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure, following a lengthy annual refurbishment period.

The ride typically closes for "rehab" during the winter months, when demand to ride it is significantly weaker. It has returned to action less than a week after another major ride at the park, The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman, closed for its own month-long series of upgrades.

Based on Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park River Adventure anchors the dinosaur-themed area of Islands of Adventure. It sees guests taking a tour past various enclosures containing audio-animatronic dinosaurs, before things go awry and they are forced to take a detour in order to escape the clutches of man-eating Velociraptors and a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman closed on February 8 and is expected to reopen in March. The dark ride is to be fitted with a new Infitec 3-D projection system that generates high-resolution 4K images, as well as enhancements to its physical sets.
