Hogwarts Castle at night

This week has seen the exciting news that Universal is planning further Harry Potter attractions for its other parks around the world. We have no details of when or where at the moment, but we do know that Harry, Hermione and Ron will be taking up residence in California, Singapore or Tokyo in the future.

Given its overwhelming success in increasing visitor numbers and profits for Universal Orlando, it's no surprise that Universal would look to repeat the sucess of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter elsewhere. In this week's Big Debate, we ask whether Universal should simply create identical clones of the Wizarding World at its other parks, or if it should look to create something entirely new.

Why would Universal clone the Wizarding World?

You can't fail to be impressed by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Castle looks amazing and to actually walk around Hogsmeade village and browse for a wand in Ollivanders is a truly unforgettable experience. The land has proven to be massively successful and recreates numerous landmarks from the Potter books and movies, bringing your imagination to life. Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to visit Florida, and with a winning formula it would make sense for Universal to reuse the investment it made the first time around elsewhere.

Why would they not clone it?

In a different park, it could make sense to create a completely unique attraction. This would inevitably see visitors flocking from around the world to check out Harry Potter working some more of his magic. Surely Universal Creative must be buzzing with ideas for the next Wizarding World? If Universal did want to attack the project with "all wands blazing", the company could create a new innovative, exciting, jaw-dropping, eye-watering concept to wow the world with at another park. This could then later be cloned as part of a widely-rumored expansion in Orlando.
