ElecTRONica show to close through September 30, 2011 at Disney California Adventure

ElecTRONica stage

The ElecTRONica show at Disney California Adventure will close temporarily on September 6, 2011, to enable it to undergo a refresh.

Performances of ElecTRONica will resume on September 30, according to the Orange County Register. Disney has previously announced that the show will remain in place at California Adventure until at least spring 2012, having proven popular with guests at Disneyland's sister park.

Inspired by Disney's Tron: Legacy movie, ElecTRONica takes place during the evening in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot section of California Adventure. It features music, live performances and interactive experiences, including the chance to play classic 1980s arcade games at a recreation of Flynn's Video Arcade. The show was originally due to run throughout December 2010, but has remained in place during the DVD and Blu-Ray release periods for the movie.

For the last few months, Disney has hosted a nightly tournament alongside the show, which sees guests racing light cycles in the TRON: Evolution video game. Each night's winner is pronounced a Grand Champion, and receives a copy of TRON: Legacy on Blu-Ray disc.
