Dollywood has confirmed that it plans to add a new S&S Screamin' Swing attraction for the 2011 season, which will be named Barnstormer.
In common with similar attractions around the world, Barnstormer will feature two swinging arms which can hold 16 riders each. It will be housed closed to the Mountain Slidewinder, in a new barnyard-themed area which will also feature a new children's play area. The ride is expected to open in March 2011, at a cost of $5.5 million.
Barnstormer will see riders swinging to a maximum height of 81 feet, and features a maximum rotation of 230 degrees. Reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour, it is named after the stunt pilots of the 1920s who performed daring feats in biplanes over the rural areas.

Dollywood claims that the new barnyard area is a tribute to Dolly Parton's upbringing on a farm in the Smoky Mountains. Parton said of the new addition: "My new Barnstormer ride offers folks those same breathtaking moments, high in the sky above Dollywood. And I’ve recreated a critter-themed barnyard that reminds me of growing up on the farm here in the Smoky Mountains!"
