The high-end Loews Portofino Bay hotel is located within walking distance of both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. It was the first hotel to open at the Universal Orlando Resort, and is designed to resemble an Italian fishing village. Loews Hotels operates the hotel on Universal's behalf. Guests at the Portofino Bay Hotel receive a number of major perks, including early entry to both theme parks and unlimited Universal Express queue-jumping passes (not valid at Universal's Volcano Bay). Major dining options at the hotel including Mama Della's Ristorante (designed to resemble an Italian home), BiCE Ristorante (which merges old and modern Italian style), Trattoria del Porto (a buffet restaurant serving Italian fishes), Splendido Pizzeria (a poolside pizza outlet) and the Thirsty Fish (a bar serving alcoholic drinks and snacks).
