The CityWheel is a "London Eye" type attraction which was opened in December 2022 in recognition of Southend on Sea achieving city status. 

The wheel stands 36 metres tall and gives riders great views across the city and the Thames Estuary, and as far as Canary Wharf on a clear day. The 24 gondolas can each hold up to 6 riders, with one converted for wheel chair users. CityWheel joins the group of rides that allows over 14s to ride free when accompanying a child under 120cm tall.  There is an impressive light show on the wheel after dark.
