Oh, and also..the poler coaster seems like it could be a huge success for Uni. 6 year old princesses arent going to ride that thing. I think people will come into orlando to ride that at the Eye and then spend a few days down the road at the parks. Polercoaster just seems to be more of universals market. And the first 500 foot rollercoaster seems like it will be a big deal

Les look at this debate another way- Disney has more land but there is something to Universals smaller footprint. Why would you want to walk around thousands of acres when another park has everything and more (in coming years) in a less energy consuming structure. Also, you can bet Universal will buy up all the land around it and keep going.

If you are putting down universal, you prob havent been for awhile. It used to be beige buildings and cheap facades but that seems to be the way of the past now.

Back before Harry was built, I bet the execs were sitting around a table saying "we need a castle. and an icon..something big people can associate with the park. Lets do harry potter and reinvent the wheel, creating billions for ourselves." I think they know what they need to do to create us better parks, lets just give them some time to do it :) Happy readings

The down side to Disney is 1 ride for 20 stores.,.,, it's for a younger group.,.,., the cost for Disney is to much too.,.,, I have been to universal over 100 times in the last 14 years.,,,, we get season passes and go down every year.,,, then we might hit a Disney park for 1 day every other year while we are at universal .,., we also do Sea World for 1day every other year.,,, , but, hands down for the money universal is the better park.,.,,

Avatar themed land....meh. I'm still MAD at Disney for not doing Harry Potter! Watched "Saving Mr. Banks" where Walt waited 20 or so years to get the rights to make the "Mary Poppins" movie....and the current Disney moguls couldn't land J.K. Rowling? SO disappointed.

The reason Disney didn't get Harry Potter is because they wanted to include face characters and J.K. Rowling wasn't too excited about ruining the image the movies created. That's why she signed with universal.

There are MANY more reasons why Disney does not have Harry Potter.

Disney needs to clean up their act. Last Thanksgiving a 10 day stay at one of their top resorts. It was discusting. The price of the rooms are out of this world and the quality is about econo lodge. They were dirty smelly small there isnt even a micro wave or frig. I have never been so disappointed. the parks great but i agree over seven and lets go to universal....

I beg to differ on #1. The economy recovered very well with one year after 9/11. Here in Florida, the economy was booming until 2008. I still wait for a recovering economy.

Disney is fine when you have little ones, but after the age of 7 or 8, most kids want the thrills you can get at Universal and adults like more options for them, as well.

Disney will win because they have more land, pure and simple. Universal has to deal with the space constraints around their park but WDW is sitting on so much undeveloped land at their disposal.

In the end Disney will like always prevail.. Universal will have it's moments of glory.. But with no rights to Gaurdians of the galaxy and far other marvel characters.. It's doomed too see Disney like always pull it's carpet from under it..

But Disney can't build a Marvel property in Florida as long as Universal holds onto that contract....so there goes that theory.
