We were there on opening night Nov 6th. It was the most crowded I've seen it and we've been going the last 8 years. It's a shame it's going away. Disney definitely needs to rethink this.

This is very sad I have seeing this show for the last 17 years and now my tradition will end on January 3rd. I'm definitely crying that day

We went to Hollywood Studios last Saturday. Although we showed up to the park at 12:30, planning to do several things and knowing it was going to be crowded, we were told at the gate that the lots were closed and we would have to go to Epcot. Upon driving past the parking lots, there was one COMPLETELY open, and another one that was only half full! It was extremely frustrating that Disney would tell us the lots were closed when there were obviously still
spots and we showed up early to avoid the problem. Quite the opposite of the customer service standard expected. And when we talked to a cast member inside the park about it, she said that their management had told them the lots were already full! Crazy!

We just went for my daughters birthday, was there on 12/12. By 5pm the signs were out, not sure when they were placed, but the signs directed us to park at Animal Kingdom. At AK, we went to the HS bus stop and waited. We might have stood in line for 10 minutes, when charter buses started showing up and assisting the WDW buses. We rode a charter bus to HS and then from AK to HS, all in all not a horrible wait on either end, considering the crowds. A little inconvenient, but better than not seeing the lights at all, because I didn't enter the park at noon.

Um...pretty sure you can't walk to Hollywoid Studios from Epcot. That path from the International Gateway takes you to the Beach & Yacht Club, Boardwalk, and Swan & Dolphin. You can take a boat from the International Gateway or those hotels, though.

We have walked from Epcot to Hollywood Studios a number of times through the years-- it takes about 15-20 minutes, and as others have commented, a park hopper is needed to enter both parks on the same day. This satellite view on Google Maps shows the route (yellow line along the water next to Boardwalk Resort): https://goo.gl/maps/VvVteZSWynA2 We usually go through the arcade near the Thomas Kincade store just outside the Boardwalk Inn entrance to shave off some of the walking. Walking is often quicker than taking the boats.

Yes, Rachel, you can walk there. Just follow the path along the back of BoardWalk, from behind Jelly Rolls. The walkway is along the east side of the canal, all the way to Hollywood Studios.

The walkway to the Studios from EPCOT runs through the Boardwalk resort. It follows the waterway past the Boardwalk Villas and the quiet pool. I've only walked it in the summer and it took about 20 minutes. If the boats are not super crowded the boat is a good option, much less tiring!

Went to the Studios on Friday 12/4 and it indeed was very crowded, but it was worth it. We were staying at the Swan and Dolphin so we took the friendship boat from there to the Studios. The line was long and we had to wait for the third boat. (this was right around 6pm) I would definitely allow a lot of time for transportation. The light display is worth it. I have heard it's most crowded right at the lighting ceremony, so if you don't mind missing that, I would try to go closer to park close, especially because a lot of guests will leave the area to go to Fantasmic.

We were at Disney the 2nd week of November and the crowds were horrible!! We were told it was because of the last year for the lights at Hollywood Studios and the marathon. You know it is crowded when you wait for an hour for a bus to come to your resort, and by time you get to the part the extra magic hours are over!! Disney needs to do something about the crowds. We were also told by a Disney employee that there is talk that the Osborne Light Spectacular may go to Downtown Disney.

We were there last night and can attest to the crowd control issue. The display area was packed.

But the displays are beautiful; it's a shame this is leaving!

On #3, only works if you have a park hopper option on your tickets.

The walk through epcot is a great idea, but if you don't have park hopping, you can't take the shortcut. :-(

We were there for the 15th year this week and I have never seen it that crowded. It was kind of scary at times. But it loosens up after the initial lighting and if you do the dessert party you will have a spectacular time. Disney is utterly INSANE to lose this event. Universal would be INSANE not to take advantage and bring the show to the New York streets at USO.

We did get a chance to see the Lights for the final time in November and also did the desert party - really going to miss this one of my favorite things at the holidays. Not only are guests disappointed about the lights leaving the cast members are also unhappy. Hope that they will find some place else to put them up.

I had never seen the lights before this year. My son took me, my parents, his wife, and his kids. We had a great time! The lights were beautiful, and you just want to stay there a while and watch them. We went at the beginning of November on a Friday, and it was pretty crowded then trying to get down the street, but I thought it was well worth the trouble. I'm glad to have the memories of being with my family and enjoying the lights together! Kudos to the Osborne family for their hard work!

My wife and I were just at Hollywood Studios Friday 12/4 at night. We live close and drove over for the weekend arriving at HS just before 8PM. No parking lot closures at all and we got into the Film parking area, not too far from the entrance and took the tram. Got into the park no problem and heading to the Osborn display area. Even with an hour till park closing there were a lot of people there and this year the cast members were routing guests in only one direction, toward the rear of the park to get into the display. While it was crowded we were able to stop and take videos/pics and enjoy the snow fall. Guessing as it gets closer to Christmas the crowds will be heavier and the parking lots may close but we had no problem. Several years ago we went on Christmas and learned that day that the Christmas parade on TV is taped right after Thanksgiving. Threw that in for those that didn't know. Also, that same day we were told that New Years day is not near as crowded, something this article said differently. We were told that New Years Eve is very crowded. We have season passes so may head over on New Years day just to check out how crowded, or not, that it really is.

I think they might keep The lights after all. It's a great way to pump up HS and spread out the crowds a bit.

The Lights are not staying nor is the Streets of America

I read elsewhere about the parking lots getting filled up. My question is, shouldn't the number of parking spaces be proportional to the maximum number of guests the park will allow? I wonder if they will end up expanding the parking, especially with Star Wars and Toy Story in the works.

I was there Monday the 7th and at bopening (6pm) you could ot get near NY Street The crowds were huge plus they had established a traffic pattern where you enter by the Muppets attraction and walk down behind NY Street then enter at Lights Motor Acrion, one problem they were keeping everyone walking so you could not stay and enjoy the lights. Fast Forward to 7:30pm, the same traffic pattern with a lot feweer people, I stood on the corner of NY Street and Brownstone Streeet across from the Tree and enjoyed the lights till 9pm when it ws lights out. My reccomendation don't go early unless you want to actually see the lights turned on, go late and stay till lights out which seems to be 1 hour pas posted park closing time.

Went last Monday night at 7 p.m and the crowds were fine. Able to mill around and took lots of photo's with no issues.

Disney has closed alot of things in recent years made changes that made little to no sense. But this is the worse yet . We say it this year and cried as we left. We try to come down different times to hit different special events. But knowing is is the last year . Disney is now officially less walt dream and getting more amusement park

We just returned from WDW and saw the lights 3 nights and the crowds were so huge, nothing like we have experienced in the past. I hope Disney Executives take note and bring this attraction back in some form. We were disappointed by the lack of merchandise, PINS! Disney sure missed the mark.
Osborne lights is our favorite holiday attraction and we are sure sad to see it go, happy tho that so many people are seeing it's last curtain call.

It's a shame Disney won't move the light display elsewhere on property or even to California Adventure in Hollywood Land. They may regret that decision in years to come.

Big mistake getting rid of the lights, and very sad.

We saw them Thanksgiving weekend. Yes, the park was crowded -- especially the lights. But they are magnificent!

My boyfriend just proposed at the Osborne lights. It was perfect!

I was there last Tuesday and saw the proposal right after the two of you "flipped the switch." Was wondering if you were expecting it or if the proposal was a total surprise? Congratulations!!!

This is true for Disneyland. Especially this year with the closing of the train, Big Thunder Ranch and Rivers of America for a year for the building of Star Wars Land.

So happy we went the week it opened. Even then, it was extremely crowded. My favorite experience, by far, was being able to run through it during the Wine & Dine Half Marathon!
