Leave it to Disney to come up with something so intuitive. Gotta love it!!

I wonder if this could become too popular so people are then waiting in line to collect their pre ordered food.

Hi this is a wow idea...fantastic would love to try on my visit at Disneys parks at Anaheim , California...until then yes I agree that pre ordering is very helpful to everyone..but Iam concerned about whether the meals would be still hot?....hum cold meals no Bueno !!

As a cast member working this test program I can assure you that when you order at Backlot Express your food will always arrive to you hot when you pick it up at the counter. Your meal won't begin preparation until you arrive at the restaurant (the location settings on the app and your phone confirm this). By the time you reach the counter your food is ready!

How do I order from the Backlot Express in advance?

We leave next Wednesday and can't wait to try this out. Waiting in line for food at Fantasmic is always one of the worst parts of the trip.

This "new" system seems too complicated! I usually travel with my family of five (3 smallish children) and having to order online would just make things for me a bit too complicated. Sure, the lines can be bad at the counter service places, but at least it's human face to face interaction. My hope is that this doesn't become the ONLY way to eat counter service at the parks. If it does, so many people will be excluded.

In #1, you mention that location is determined by your phone's location services, but this is not true. The location is determined by reading the long-range sensors located in your Magic Band.

As a cast member working with this test program I can confirm that your location is found using your phone. Throughout Backlot Express and the Fantasmic amphitheater we have installed low energy Bluetooth bones that find your location in with your phones location settings. The app is a third party app through a third part developer and thus is in no way associated with your magic band or any of your MDE plans.

So, obviously, this isn't going to work if you have your location settings switched to off as I do, correct?
