Mystery Fun House and & Water Mania in Orlando, FL where super fun.

"Let's take a look back at 10 Florida theme parks that have been shuttered since the 1960s."

umm.... not really. Most of these were open waaaaaay later than that.

Fun n wheels was also a fun place to visit the water slide was kind of scary as a kid going on it but the Ferris wheel and bumper boats were the best rides out there. Whatever happened to that place anybody know?

I remember visiting an odd little park near Venice called Floridaland. It combined some tropical elements, a Wild West town, a dolphin show, and other random set pieces. It billed itself as having everything you came to Florida to see. Even as a kid, I was underwhelmed. But I loved Six Gun Territory!

This was not a park but it was a huge canopy with shopping and restaurants under it. Somewhere between Orlando and Miami . Is it still there?

I remember that too! Having been very fortunate enough to have travelled to Florida over thirty years, I remember a number of these parks. Your comment on the canopy covered mall especially rekindled a long forgotten memory! In my mind it was near Sea World? I must admit, all the times I spent in these other parks, I was thinking "I would rather be at Disneyworld!

Isn't Cypress Gardens where much of Flipper was filmed? I loved the glass bottom boat there! Sad to know it's gone....

I believe the glass bottom boats you're thinking of are at Silver Springs.

SIX GUN TERRITORY

We live near the old Splendid China, It looks like a lot of the park is still there. The fence surrounding it blocks a lot of the view but you can still see the tops of buildings. The surrounding fence is the original from the park and has Chinese accents.

What about Silver Springs?

As a lifelong resident of Florida, this was interesting.

But Spellcheck must have been broken on the submitter's program; there are so many errors in this!

Being a big baseball fan, I really liked Boardwalk Baseball. They had some interesting things to see from the baseball hall of fame, and had some good shows.

You forgot Six Gun Territory, it was in or near Ocala.

I was just gonna mention that. I got th o go there as a child. I don't remember where it was but I remember the gunfights and the dancing Indians. The day I was there there was a Indian boy doing dances wearing Reebok shoes.
