Just returned from WDW this week and I took over 800 photos with 4 of my own cameras! These included my iphone, a waterproof compact and an SLR - and I STILL purchased the Memory Maker - and I was reading the T&Cs over and over again as I thought I had picked the wrong product as I wasn't aware the price had dropped - it must of happened that very day!!

I worked it out that as long as I picked over 11 photos I had got my money's worth and in the end after downloading all 382 photos from the Memory Maker site, I reduced this down to 62 Disney taken photos I just couldn't do without! So yes, well worth the money and even better now they have reduced the price!

I hope that Disney studies these comments. If so they will find that almost all come from their customers who visit the park one time or less per year. Of course the PhotoPass could be a great opportunity for them. It has been a totally poor idea to now "include" this service with the annual pass contract. Why would I as an annual pass holder want to have these pictures taken when I visit the park 10+ times per year. Very quickly it becomes "enough is enough". Yet the price of the annual pass has increased significantly due to forcing this package onto the annual pass customer. This year I have said enough is enough and have refused to renew. Soo long Disney.

I am a pretty good freelance photographer and have better equipment than these guys have. BUT theirs is certainly good enough and find their composing to be good. Also I can be in the photos. I'm not comfortable having others do these photos randomly. Also, 200 bucks? That's the food price for a day. 200 or 150 for a week vacation is an OUTRAGEOUSLY good value. Now I'm free from carrying in my big camera and tripod for those night shots.

My wife and I opted to get Memory Maker on our honeymoon In September/October. Totally worth it. Always someone on hand to take photos without having to bother other holiday goers, to capture some incredible moments. Did't have any problems with waiting for in queues for photos, and this includes Mickeys not so scary halloween party nights when the park was nearing capacity.

Yes it is worth it. We used it on our trip in April to WDW and came home with over 600 pics. I liked it cause we didn't have to fumble with a camera, and we both could be in the picture together. Plus we got a pic of the moment I was popped the question in front of the castle. That memory will always be a very special moment for both of us.

The Memory Maker is a great package to have! The videos on some of the rides that are synced because of your Magic Band - the fact you don't have to stand in line AFTER a ride to try to see your picture and the fact EVERYONE can be included in that magic moment in front of Cinderella's castle - you just don't want to be without it. The price adjustment is a welcome change and maybe will encourage more to purchase it in advance when they plan their trip with their Authorized Disney Travel Planner! - like me! BTW, we don't get a commission on the MM - it's just a great perk to add.

Not make any money? Now that's funny.

Do the math. If "only" 1000 people a day sign up for the service out of the TENS of millions of visitors per year, you're talking $61 MILLION a year at $169/package. For a couple dozen people to take pictures with a $500 camera that you can see via an automated service that costs about a penny to print, if you want a hard copy.

The infrastructure was bought and paid for a long time ago and the minimum wage folks pushing the camera button might be the biggest expense. If Disney was not having a cash cow with this, they would have shut out down a long time ago.

We are bringing my 6 yo god-daughter and her 9 yo brother for a week, the week after Christmas. We decided to purchase the MM, even though I have a professional camera with several lenses. I want this trip to be absolutely MAGICAL as only Disney can be and I don't want to miss a moment because I'm fooling with my camera or changing the lenses....etc! We happily paid the $169! And Disney made it even better when I got the email yesterday stating I now had a $20 credit to use towards a purchase!!!

We LOVE the Memory Maker/Photo Pass. It had been a number of years since I had been to WDW, before Animal Kingdom, and my husband had never been until Dec 2013. The annual pass isn't cost effective for us. The Memory Maker/Photo Pass is a way for both of us to be in pictures together. PLEASE Disney don't get rid of this.

PhotoPass (and Memory Maker) isn't the same as it was just a few years ago. You don't have to find your picture, run to the counter, wait on line, and get your print made right away. With the Magic Band, the pictures is automatically captured and put in to your My Disney Experience. I think it was worth it at the old price ($169) but had recently my annual pass updated to include it (4 APs at 20 increase is less than $169! I save the first time I use it). Now they are adding video of your group on to the photo pass with magical add ons not possible for you to do yourself.
Our trip this summer I had over 400 pictures/videos on my Magic band!
I think the reason for the price decrease is that they have reduced costs by automating the system and now they are using the laws of supply and demand to get more people to buy in. If it costs them less, and more people buy it then they make more profit.

As a photopass photographer I can tell you yes our guests carry professional equipment the same as ours. But one thing they lack in most cases is the ability to create those Disney moments with our characters or those amazing moments on the streets of our parks. I on a daily basis I have shown our guests how to use there camera. I have no issue talking it with there camera though. Are things change in the world of photography the answer is yes !! Disney will grow with it too. I love being a photopass photographer and have seen so many wonderful things like children seeing Cinderellas castle for the very first time. Or those wonderful meet and greets with Micky and all of his freinds. I encourage everyone to use photopass because we can create the magic of photography while you have fun. No worries. It's getting easier everyday.

We were able to go in with some friends on MM as we were traveling around the same time so I didn't pay full price.

But honestly, I think it would have been worth it even at full price. We have over 500 pictures from our trip. I have a decent camera phone but the pictures don't blow up that great and I didn't want to lug my DLSR around the park on rides & wouldn't leave it in the stroller.

My father-in-law is a professional photographer so we are spoiled with having good pictures but as you can guess he is almost never in them. As they and my Mom joined our family on this trip we got so many wonderful family pictures. In fact, by the end of the trip my father-in-law was saying he had never had his picture taken so many times in his life!

We traveled in early December and took pictures with all the trees at the various parks and even talked the kids into doing a few with characters.

My kids love Star Wars and Jedi Academy was a big thing for them. The pictures from that event alone would have been worth the cost. Even though my FIL was there and taking pictures our spot was not ideal given where our kids were on stage and the Photopass ones were awesome. In fact when the gal in the store was adding them to my MM she even said one of the ones of my son pushing Vader back into the temple with the force was one of the cutest she had ever seen.

The magic shots were so fun - even managed to get my son the ones with Darth Vader & the stormtroopers which are his favorite of the whole trip. We got Tinkerbell in each park too which was fun.

Love that the ride photos were included. My daughter's face on the roller coasters is priceless.

We were able to get Christmas cards using these pictures and I've paid at least $150 sitting fee to local photographers in the past and received less than 20 pictures, all in the same outfits and location.

Finally, I think it is what you make of it. If you take lots of pictures, ask for magic shots and compile them in a book, it is worth it. If you just want a few shots for your instagram account maybe not.

While there are certainly more cameras out there, the idea that a random person could take better photos than a professional is laughable. Good luck with that nighttime family photo in front of the castle.

I purchased it twice. After the first time, I asked "why did I just spend $169 on that? I played with the borders and saved all the pictures but actually only printed a few. The second time, the same thing. The ride pictures are fun to have however. I think if our package included lots of character meals and visits, it may be worth it - but we won't be buying again.

It is amazing to me how over the years Disney has found a way to charge for every little thing. You pay exorbitant prices to get into the parks, and then on top of that every little thing also now costs. We can't have cast members who take photos and give paying customers free down-loads, No - we have to charge for them. I think Walt is rolling over in his grave at every single pinch of a penny that Disney now does. If Disney could charge for oxygen in the parks, I'm pretty sure they would.

I was so not impressed with the photopass photographers that we encountered on our last visit to the park. They were sub-par at best with their own cameras, they didn't seem to really know how to set up a shot - but just pushed a button on their camera - and I feel like they also intentionally sabotaged the photos with My camera. The pictures taken with mine were angled wrong or they just didn't bother to arrange the family in a pleasing pose - with people half visible behind other people. It did not incline me towards purchasing a single shot that they took with their own cameras. Definitely disappointed. Oh, and also - after we purchased one of the down-loads from the ride Splash Mtn. - the cast member forgot to put it on the card he handed us and we didn't find that out until the end of the day - long after we could have done something about it. Definitely a "service" going downhill.

We have an annual pass to Legoland and have purchased their picture program for $99 for the entire year. I love it it's worth every penny and I use it every time I go. But that is all year long. I think Disney would benefit from lowering it significantly more. They do charge for an awful lot that I find I get at the other parks for less or even free. I'm surprised at how many local Florida Residence don't have Disney passes but do have annual passes to Universal, Legoland and SeaWorld. My family being one of those!

No! They can't get rid of the Memory Maker! We used it in 2014 and even though I had my Digital Rebel and my smaller Cannon Sure Shot, along with my phone I barely used any of those. I had over 400 pics when I got home on my Memory Maker package. Loved the fact that I actually got to be in more than just one or two pics while on vaca and we could look at them each night when we got back to the hotel.

I have had a few people ask for advice on planning their Disney vaca over the past year, since that last trip (was there twice within 11 months and will be back again April 2016...we live in Michigan!). Each time I have highly recommended this package...it is a great way to get fun pics of the whole family that you wouldn't otherwise have. The framing and embellishment option is awesome too.

PhotoPass worked great for my family in Disneyland in October. We had over 300 pictures but the cost was only $69.00

We love the Memory Maker we are a family of 4 and usually one of us are left out of the picture. I think 150.00 is a fair price we will continue to purchase Memory Maker.

I always use PhotoPass, and if I am going for more than a few days I pay for Memory Maker. I take photos at work, and it is the last thing I want to do on vacation. It is worth the money to me. I feel like I saw less photographers on my last trip.

On my last trip to the WDW parks, I saw less than 10 Disney photographers over the entire 5 days of my visit to all 4 parks. Those I did see had lines of 5 or more families waiting. This is a major factor in my decision not to buy the Memory Maker Photo Pass. I was able to take more pictures on my own or asking a passerby to snap a quick one with my phone. I didnt have to waste valuable park time searching for Disney photographers or waiting in line for a picture. Back about 8 years ago, this was never a problem. The photographers were literally everywhere, snapping pics and handing out photopass cards.

I just got back from WDW and purchased Memory Maker. You are right..it has lost its value. There were fewer photographers and I ended up taking most pictures myself, especially with the characters. I did get email today offering the $20 credit. Although I don't know why anyone would order prints

I have used it! Our very first trip to WDW I left my camera on the airport shuttle. We purchased PhotoPass in the park as soon as we arrived. I love it. If not for PhotoPass, we would not have any photos of our first trip celebrating our granddaughters 5 birthday!

I used to love using Photo Pass but lately I'm becoming increasingly annoyed with the poor quality of the photos overall. They come out blurry or blown out or they simply snap photos without ensuring their subjects (aka ME) is ready.

We paid the higher price when we went to Disney World both times. We were ok with it. We did have a nicer camera but it was one less thing to worry about. Plus the photographers always helped us with fun poses that we normally wouldn't do on our own. When they did do the magic photos, my kid loved them! It would be nice if those were done more often, then I would say the higher price was very much worth it. On a week long trip, we usually got about 200 photos. We tried to stop at every place possible with a photographer. We plan on getting the photo pass again when we go next time. Hopefully they have that or something similar.

It is totally worth it. I never stopped for a photo before MM. In fact, I hurriedly moved in another direction if I saw one. Now I get MM and seek them out. I can be in photos with my family if they are there, or get pictures with me in them if I'm alone. I only do digital photos (I have scanned and digitized 60 years worth of family photos and discarded the prints). Being able to download the pictuees from MM is great for me. I had ordered it for my upcoming Fall trip at $169 and thought even that anount was worth it. But when the price dropped I got a letter saying they were giving me a $20 credit.
