Walt Disney World’s theme parks will be closed today for the first time in over a decade, as Central Florida braces itself for the impact of Hurricane Matthew.

I'm the founder and lead editor of Theme Park Tourist, having started the site in February 2009.
I've been obsessed with theme parks from a very early age, starting with my family's annual visits to Pleasurewood Hills (which continue to this day). My goal in starting the site was to create a resource that could help theme park fans make the most of their park trips, and to make visiting theme parks a little more affordable by capturing as many money-saving tricks as possible.
I'm a huge fan of Disney and Universal parks, as well as Alton Towers and Thorpe Park in the UK. My favourite rides include the Tower of Terror and Toy Story Mania at Disney's Hollywood Studios, the Amazing of Adventures of Spider-Man at Islands of Adventure and the mighty Nemesis at Alton Towers.
Along with my wife, Natalie, I live in Ipswich, England with our sons Steven and Matthew. I am always keen to attend attraction openings in the UK or further afield. It's also great to receive news of upcoming new attractions, refurbishments / temporary closures, special offers and any other theme park news.
