Theme park news round-up - March 15, 2013

Walt Disney World's Downtown Disney has frequently been the subject of criticism from fans in recent years, particularly since the closure of the Pleasure Island area. Finally, the resort has now committed to overhauling it, with the entire district being renamed as Disney Springs and construction work due to begin next month. Meanwhile, Chessington World of Adventures has been forced to delay the opening of its new Zufari: Ride into Africa! attraction, and PortAventura is planning a major expansion over the next 5 years.

PortAventura

Spain's PortAventura is planning a major expansion over the next five years. The park's new owners plan to invest €75 million, starting with the expansion of the Costa Caribe water park and moving on to expansion of the resort's hotel line-up.
